| on the steam page it says Q4 needs this: Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 6600 or better or ATI Radeon® 9800Pro or better
what does the above mean? It does not give me the 'MB' needed. will nVidia® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory one of those cover it.
I am so blonde when it comes to computers, help would be wonderful. I'm buying a laptop and don't want to buy it and find I cant play the game.

| My old computer has a Geforce 6600, Athlon 3000+ and 1GB RAM and COD4 wouldnt run on it. So it seems to be very hardware hungry as its the first game i have ever come across that wont run on it.
Tink, the 8600M GT should run it comfortably enough. What processor/RAM in the laptop your looking at?

| What ye on about guys? Ye just gotta know how to work with it. I got Business edition on my laptop and everything runs fine! Don;t forget, that hardware was built for Vista. Turning system restore off would be a good start, I've never used it myself and it just slows shit down as its making backups of ye every move, also disabling sommink they call 'superfetch' and 'search indexing' in the admin / services area makes a big difference. Dont use AVG, use aVast Antivirus and never ever turn it off. If you can;t gain access to sommink because of the antivirus... you don;t want what you're trying to get. Install DirectX9 Redist that will run along side the native DirectX10 of Vista. Also, visit www.laptopvideo2go.com to get the latest drivers if you get the feeling the newer games arn't running how they should be. COD4 will deffo work super well with that setup, even better if ye do those few things to enhance ye system AND even better if you cough up for a better GFX card... not sure what ye options are. | |

| I will do what you say Oz once I got the machine as you always seem to know what your going on about, and there are no other GFx options, I had to search the entire dell site to find one which would gimmie a semi good one, I like dell, bf bought two comps from there and so far they don't suck as much as mine does. Thanks for telling me it will run . Now just got to count the pennies, and buy evrything . | |

| It will be awhile, I have to do it however he wants me to as it's his money and 'he knows more than I do' which is becoming debate-able. He justs wants to be in control. I am getting the work laptop first o.0 for some stupid reason. Work, why do I want to do work... and once we got enough like £500 or so, he will look into makeing me some quad core thingie thing. *sigh* it seams whenever I get close to what I want, it runs away from my outstretched hands. sucky-ness | |
